New Lisbon Fire Department to cover all of Town of Lisbon Starting Jan 1, 2018
The New Lisbon Common Council met for a Special Session on April 3 to discuss the sale of bonds $997,024 Waterworks System and Sewerage System revenue Bonds, Series 2017A. Lisa Vinz, New Lisbon City Clerk/Treasurer gave an overview for the Sale Day Report to the council members. Vinz said, “We are looking to refinance the 2007 Water and Sewer Revenue Bonds and new money for the new water system projects.”
The Bank of Mauston will be awarded the sale of the revenue bonds, Series 2017A at a rate of 3.3497% at the recommendation of Ehlers Municipal Advisors. A roll call vote was taken and the vote was unanimous.
Bill Pfaff, Town of Lisbon Chairperson had requested the city to amend the ordinance regarding the fire department coverage of the Town of Lisbon. Currently, the New Lisbon Fire Department covers approximately two-thirds of the Town of Lisbon. Pfaff said, “The Town of Lisbon would like the ordinance to be amended to cover our entire township starting January 1, 2018, and continue for the remainder of the 3 years left on the contract.” Motion approved.
Pfaff also said that he and New Lisbon Fire Chief Lynn Willard investigated response times and assured the times were not going to be much higher than the current response times with Mauston Fire Department. Insurance rates were also verified and will not increase. Pfaff said, “Once you are away from a hydrant the insurance rate is the same.”
