Driver avoids oncoming vehicle and crashes down steep embankment - Vernon County

Vernon County Sheriff John B. Spears reports a single vehicle accident that occurred on August 30th 2017 just after 2:00 P.M. The accident occurred on Carlson Ridge Rd just West of Knapp Valley Rd in the Town of Christiana.

Hana S. Sedlmayr age 31 of Westby, was Westbound on Carlson Ridge Rd when she swerved to miss an oncoming vehicle. The vehicle went down a steep embankment coming to rest amongst a dry creek bed. Sedlmayr was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and was transported to Vernon Memorial Hospital by Tri-State Ambulance.

Airbags in the Sedlmayr vehicle were deployed.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office was the Westby Fire Department, Westby First Responders and Tri-State Ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
