Chase ends when suspect's vehicle runs out of gas - Monroe County
Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins is reporting the pursuit of a vehicle that was involved in a theft matter at Wal-Mart in Sparta. The call came in to the Monroe County Communications Center at 2:22 P.M. on 12-01-17. Sparta City Officers were dispatched to the Wal-Mart in Sparta.
The suspect vehicle fled the area before police were able to take action. The vehicle was subsequently found by a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Detective on Iberia Ave. The Detective made a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle on Icon Ave at Iceland Rd in the Township of Sparta. At one point of the interview with the Detective, the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, took off and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit continued until the suspect ran out of gas on St Hwy 16 near Headquarters Rd in the Township of Adrian. No one was injured as a result of this pursuit. The suspect was taken into custody at 2:52 P.M. The suspect was identified as Adam N Issa, age 32, of Phillips WI.
Mr. Issa was arrested for felony fleeing and theft charges.
The matter is still under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Sparta Police Department.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office was the Monroe County 911 Communication Center and the Tomah Police Department. The Sparta Police Department and The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office worked this matter jointly. The Sparta Police Department is handling the theft matter.
