Cashton man in custody after fleeing from an accident - Monroe County (Press Release)
Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins reports on December 5th at approximately 4:12p.m., the Monroe County Communications Center received a call about a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 27, just south of Jackrabbit Ave. The caller, Carrie Flock age 48 of rural Sparta, was south bound on Hwy 27 when she slowed to make a right turn into a driveway and she was struck from behind by a white Dodge van. The driver of the van then fled the scene heading south bound on Hwy 27. A DNR Warden in the area heard the call, and observed the van traveling at a high rate of speed from the area of the scene. He pursued the vehicle south on Hwy 27 and onto County Hwy XX in the Town of Wells. The driver then stopped his vehicle just south of Kansas Ave. The driver, Josue Vicente age 36 of Cashton, was taken into custody by Monroe County Deputies.
No one was injured in the crash or ensuing pursuit.
Vicente was issued citations for OWI 2nd offense, failure to report an accident, operating after revocation, hit and run and fleeing.
Assisting with the accident were Wisconsin DNR and the Monroe County Communications Center.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
