Monroe County shooting suspect located in Juneau County - Press Release

Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins reports that at approximately 4:43am, Monroe County 911 Communications Center received a 911 call advising of a shooting that had occurred at an address in the Township of Jefferson.

Deputies and medical personnel responded to the scene where they found the victim, 25 year old Israel Garcia Alcantara, had been shot. Despite the best efforts of the first responders, Israel succumbed to his injuries shortly after their arrival.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Adalberto Mateo Quinonez Lopez for the homicide. Adalberto was located in Juneau County and taken into custody without incident by Monroe County and Juneau County personnel. Alberto will remain in the custody of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office until an initial bond hearing on Tuesday.

The incident appears to be isolated and we do not believe that the general public is in any danger.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Monroe County 911 Communications Center, Monroe County Joint Investigative Task Force, Cashton Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, Juneau County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe County Medical Examiner, Tri-State Ambulance Service, Cashton First Responders, and Cashton Fire Department.

The case remains under investigation.
