Necedah National Wildlife Refuge is Hiring Teens for a Summer Work Crew
Necedah NWR is hiring four teens age 15 to 18 to work on a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) crew. The employment will begin on June 12, 2018, will last for 8 weeks, and will pay minimum wage. This is a great work experience for young adults, especially those interested in natural resources conservation and the outdoors. The work experience includes four hours per week of environmental education. Planned work activities include constructing trails, surveying butterflies, landscaping, collecting native seeds, installing signs, and various other biological, visitor services, and maintenance projects.
Complete an application and return it to the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge:
¬ US Postal Service - applications must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2018.
¬ Hand delivered - applications must be received at the Visitor’s Center no later than 4:00 pm on April 14, 2018 as the Visitor Center is not open on Sunday.
¬ Faxed – applications may be faxed to (608) 565-3160 and must be received no later than 4:00 pm April 15, 2018.
Applications are available at the visitor center, local high school guidance counselor offices, or on our website at https://www.fws.gov/refuge/Necedah/ and click Jobs at the bottom of the page or https://www.fws.gov/refuge/necedah/jobs/youth_conservation_corps.html to go directly to the page. The visitor center is open Monday – Saturday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm for application pick up or drop off.
Applicant selection will be by a random drawing open to the public on Friday April 20 at 3:30 pm in the Savannah Room of the refuge visitor center and headquarters building.
