Barbara J. Lueder, age 80 years, of rural Elroy,
Barbara J. Lueder, age 80 years, of rural Elroy, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the Serenity House in Tomah with her family by her side.
She was born on August 15, 1937, to Leo and Eleanor (Schumacher) Poff, the oldest of 5 children. She graduated from Elroy High School and married James Rittenhouse in 1955. They had 3 children. She married Loren Lueder of Stoughton, Wisconsin in 1972. She moved back to this area in 1991 to be closer to her family.
Barb was known for her love of family. She enjoyed researching family history, caring for animals, and reading. She shared her love of reading with her great-grandchildren by keeping them supplied with books and was always looking for the next special book to share with one of them. She loved learning and took many correspondence classes throughout her life. She spent a lot of time caring for homeless animals, treating them with compassion and love. She always thought of others first and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Wayne (Cathy) Rittenhouse, Lynn (Lester) Leatherberry, and Steve Rittenhouse; 7 grandchildren, Sarah (David) Paddock, Rachel (Marcos) Cordero, Barbra (Josh) Knipfel, James (Amy Stedman) Rittenhouse, Brad Rittenhouse, Amber Fowler, and Aaron Fowler; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Foster; a brother, Ronnie Poff and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her Parents and 2 brothers, Edwin Poff and Larry Poff.
A Celebration of her Life will be held with a time of visitation for family and friends on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Elroy American Legion Hall – 402 Franklin Street.
