Driver who flees scene of head-on collision later captured and arrested for OWI - Monroe County Press Release
Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins is reporting a two-vehicle crash with injuries to two people. The crash occurred on 04-11-18 at approximately 10:15 P.M. on St Hwy 16 at approximately 1/2 of a mile east of Hawk Rd. This was in the Township of Adrian. The Monroe County Communications Center received the call of the crash at 10:17 P.M.
The vehicles involved in the crash; 1998 Chevy 1500 pickup truck and the other vehicle is a 2003 Chevy Malibu. The pickup truck is red in color and the Malibu is turquoise in color. The driver (and only occupant) of the pickup was Andrew M. Sanmann, age 32, of Sparta WI. The driver (and only occupant) of the Malibu was Brock E. Brabham, age 25, of Tomah WI.
Mr. Sanmann was traveling westbound on St Hwy 16 and Mr. Brabham was traveling eastbound on St Hwy 16. Mr. Sanmann’s vehicle crossed the centerline of the road and struck Mr. Brabham’s vehicle head-on. Mr. Sanmann fled the scene after the crash (on foot) but was later caught by police and arrested for OWI and other charges.
Both Mr. Sanmann and Mr. Brabham were injured as a result of the crash. Mr. Brabham was transported to the hospital in Sparta by the Sparta Area Ambulance Service. Mr. Sanmann was transported by a police vehicle. Mr. Brabham was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. It is unknown if Mr. Sanmann was wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office was the Monroe County 911 Communication Center, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Sparta Area Fire Department, the Sparta Area Ambulance Service, Sparta PD, Ft. McCoy PMO and Tomah PD.
