Vernon County's Annual Police Memorial Service is May 15th
Vernon County Sheriff John Spears would like to invite the public to attend the Annual Vernon County Police Memorial Service, which will be held on Tuesday May 15th, 2018 at 10:00am, in front of the Sheriff’s Office at 1320 Bad Axe Court, Viroqua.
This is an opportunity for law enforcement to remind the public of the sacrifices made daily by officers in protecting the lives and property of our citizens. Each year approximately 58,627, law enforcement officers are injured in the line of duty, and in 2017, 129 officers were killed in the line of duty. So far in 2018, 48 officers have been killed in the line of duty, with 2 being from Wisconsin.
Sheriff John B. Spears would like to remind everyone that throughout the nation, National Police Week will be observed May 13th thru May 19TH , 2018. With National Peace Officers Day observed on Monday May 15th , 2018 in Washington D.C. The Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony will be held at the Capital, in Madison on May, 11th, 2018.
Everyone is welcome to attend our Local Memorial Service at the Sheriff’s Office on May 15th, 2018 at 10:00am. Guest speaker this year will be Vernon County Board Chairman Dennis Brault In the event of rain, the service will be moved inside the Sheriff’s Office.
