Charlotte May (Pugh) McAfee, age 82, of LaValle

Charlotte May (Pugh) McAfee, age 82, of LaValle, WI, passed away peacefully in her childhood home on May 29, 2018.

She was born in Mazomanie, WI on December 24, 1935 to Eber and Elsie (Stanley) Pugh. She grew up and spent most of her life in LaValle, WI. Charlotte served in the US Air Force Women’s Army Corps (WAC) from 1956 to 1957.  

On June 2, 1957, Charlotte was united in marriage to Carl Glen McAfee. The most important thing in her life was family, including her husband and three children, Billy Joe (Rebecca), Danny and Tom (Missy).  Outside of family, Charlotte enjoyed planting and maintaining her beautiful flower gardens, cooking for her family and feeding the birds.  For many years she supported the community by organizing the LaValle Parade for the annual celebration.  Charlotte also was a staunch supporter of the LaValle Fire Department where her husband, three sons and grandson have all volunteered.  In 2002, she was recognized for her dedicated support of her husband and three son's contributions over 33 years time.

Charlotte’s greatest delight was anything chocolate and her family which grew to include her three grandchildren,  Carlee (Brian) Adamson, Travis (Amanda) McAfee and Kelsey McAfee and her great-grandchildren; Ethan, Connor, Samuel and Alex Adamson and Mikayla McAfee.

Charlotte is survived by her loving husband Carl (Mac), all of her beloved children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren as well as a sister, Marion (Sis) Howe of Council Bluffs, IA and two brothers-in-law, Jerry (Carolyn) McAfee of Henryetta, OK and Bobby (Laren) McAfee of Checotah, OK, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Boyd, Calvin and Charles and sister Beth Pugh, brothers and sisters- in-law on the McAfee side; Billy Joe, Ginger, Donald and Sue.

Private services will be held at a future date.

The family wishes to give special thanks to SSM Health Hospice and the doctors and nurses at St Mary's in Madison as well as Amanda McAfee, RN who assisted her in her final journey.
