Juneau County's Teenagers of Today: Rachel Davies

by Becca Bruss - Teen Reporter

Rachel Davies is an 18-year-old senior at Mauston HighSchool. She has played volleyball the last four years, softball for three, club volleyball throughout high school and she has been a manager for the wrestling team during her high school career. I ask

Rachel what her favorite sport is and why. She stated, “Volleyball, I've been playing since seventh-grade year round and it's always been so much fun for me. It helped with stress relief and I loved all the people I met through it.” I asked Rachel about the clubs she is apart of, and she told me, “Key Club, Spanish Club, student council (secretary for my class all four years), educator’s rising—a club for future teachers—and National Honors Society.” I asked Rachel to tell me a little more about Key Club. She told me “In Key Club, I have volunteered with several different community service projects such as helping with sharing supper, cleaning up the highway and helping with the food drive.”

After graduation, Rachel plans on attending UW-Eau Claire, “I want to become a teacher; specifically, a high school English or Spanish.” I finished by asking her what made her want to

become a teacher, and she replied, “I want to become a teacher because it allows me daily opportunities to make a difference in someone's life and help people.” Rachel also plans on traveling abroad to experience different cultures in the world; her priority is a Spanish speaking country.
